Jaipur: The tourism season is to begin in Rajasthan but the myth of off season tourism has been broken as more than 10 crore tourists have visited the state in the first seven months. An estimated 1.5 crore tourists visited the state in August.
Now, more than 10 crore tourists are expected to arrive between September and December. One can call it the golden age of tourism in Rajasthan.
Unprecedented development in the tourism sector under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari has contributed to this. The travel trade sector is full of enthusiasm as domestic and foreign tourists have already started bookings for the winter season.
For the first time, good coordination is visible between the government and stakeholders. Operation of two foreign marts, Palace on Wheels and commencement of fairs and festivals are slated this month. Good monsoon has also contributed to an increase in tourists.
Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, reported a significant rise in tourist numbers. Notably, foreign tourist arrivals surged by 565%, setting a national record.
