Flourishing illegal colony exposes JDA enforcement gaps

Jaipur: The flourishing work of Shriram Nagar Colony in the ecological zone on Agra Road despite Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) action on October 7 is a glaring example of laxity on part of the authority officials.

JDA’s enforcement squad had demolished the main gate of the colony, the gravel road in the colony and land dealers were warned with a notice. But only after a couple of days, the main gate was rebuilt and the dug up road is under construction.

A written complaint was given by the locals regarding the illegal colony. But no effective action has been taken by the the department’s enforcement squad. Jaipur Development Authority should declare land of such illegal colonies as sivachak (barren, rain-fed land) to rein in traders who establish illegal colonies.
