Young adults who frequently use filters on social media are more likely to be dissatisfied with their face and body : Avika Gor
It is often difficult to accept the changes that our body and skin go through as we age. Probably, it affects more when one is a public figure, hence that leads to the use of filters social media and even otherwise. Actor Avika Gor opines that the increasing use of filters by most, even by the youth, has made it difficult for us to accept our realities and flaws. She talks more about it.
“I do use filters at times. It's perfectly fine to use filters but one shouldn't overdo it. It's a choice, I believe,” she says.
The Ballika Vadhu actor then stresses on creating a positive environment and letting people be. “We shouldn't be judging anyone who uses filters or not uses filters. Our inner personality counts in the long run. We shouldn't overthink and over judge,” she adds.
Speaking on the virtual world and the effects of social media in our lifestyle, Avika says, “Social media is for us and we are not for social media. Young adults who frequently use filters on social media are more likely to be dissatisfied with their face and body. They judge themselves not only alongside ‘perfect’ photographs of celebrities and peers, but also against their own filtered selfies. This continual comparison might have a negative impact on body image and self-esteem.”
