WHAT! To alter her appearance for Aamir Khan's Dangal, Sanya Malhotra was asked to undergo jaw surgery
Astonishing revelations about being requested to get jaw surgery have been made by Bollywood star Sanya Malhotra, who is being praised for her outstanding performance in the recently released film Kathal. In a recent interview, the actress disclosed that during the casting process for her debut film Dangal, in which she auditioned for the role of wrestler Babita Phogat, she was advised to have jaw surgery in order to change her appearance. Sanya stated that she was taken aback by the statement because she has always felt fantastic about her appearance and figure.
In an interview with a leading daily, Malhotra recalled her struggles during her early days and stated, “I remember during Dangal someone told me to get your jaw reconstructed. I was like ye kya hota hai? Bhaiya, yeh toh humne nai suna. Main toh harran ho rahe the ki yeh jaw reconstruction ke liye kaise bol sakte hai. Seedhe se baat hai yeh kaise suggestion hai. I am very happy with my body. Even when I came to Bombay I remember main auditions pe jati the aur bina makeup kiye jaati the. Itna confidence. Lena hai toh lenge warna main jaa rahe hu ghar. Aisa confidence tha.”
Sanya's first Hindi film was a sports drama starring Aamir Khan, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra played the adult versions of the Phogat sisters, Geeta and Babita, while Khan played Mahavir Singh Phogat.
Sanya's next silver screen appearance will be in the dual roles Shah Rukh Khan portrays in the film "Jawan," which also stars Sanya. This year's action movie, which is being directed by Atlee, is scheduled to open in theatres on September 7.
