Sheena Chohan Bags Best Actress Awards for Love Triangle that Premiered at Cannes
Sheena Chohan received three Best Actress Awards last week for her performance in Amar Prem, a love triangle film with a twist which was launched by Mr. Sanjiv Shankar, Joint Minister for Information and Broadcasting for the Government of India at Cannes, the world’s most important film festival.
Amar Prem tackles the subject of a partner having a terminal disease and how they should feel about their husband or wife finding new love when they are gone. With such a powerful subject, Sheena Chohan spent great efforts to understand the feelings of those who have lost their partners, by meeting and spending time with people who had experienced such loss, and it was her work doing this kind of research that led to her performance and winning the awards.

“To have Amar Prem premiere at Cannes was such a dream come true – especially in the week an Indian won Cannes Grand Prix for the first time! And now to win three Best Actress Awards in one week – I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude. Our film deals with a very difficult subject and I had to do a lot of research to understand what my character goes through with the loss of her husband and preparing for the time he’s gone, but now all of that work has been worth it and I hope that the film helps bring comfort and inspiration to anyone going through a similar experience.”
The film, produced by Manoj Pandya of The Great India Film Television (GIFT) in association wiith Jannat Movies has collected 15 international awards since it was launched at the NFDC Bharat Pavillion - three of those awards being Best Actress for Sheena Chohan.

1. 'Sant Tukaram' - Avali, The Saint’s Wife
Sheena takes on the historical and female-led role of Avali in the upcoming Bollywood film 'Sant Tukaram', in the female lead opposite Subodh Bhave, directed by Aditya Om. Recently wrapping up 'Nomad,' a Hollywood film directed by Taron Lexton, where she plays a traveller, Sheena continues to expand her international presence. This film equalled the Guinness Book of World Records for the film shot in the most countries - 26. This role required her to delve into the life of a wanderer, bringing a unique perspective and emotional intensity that resonates deeply with audiences.
After five years of theatre in Kolkata and Delhi, Sheena Chohan was launched alongside Malayalam megastar Mammootty in a film by seven-time National Award Winner Jayaraj. She played the lead in two films by National Award Winner Buddhadeb Dasgupta and was nominated as Best Actress at the Dubai and Shanghai Film Festivals for her film 'Ant Story,' which was bought by Netflix.
