Paromita Ganguly, writer and producer, delivers hard-hitting human stories and insight through Dark Humor

Paromita Ganguly has carved her niche in the world of entertainment with the success of her comedy-thriller, "Main Monica," now available on Prime Video starring Dibeyendu Bhattacharya, Ravi Mahashabde, Paritosh Sand, Abhishek Chauhan, Rahul Tewari, Disha Thakur, Suparna Marwah and Piyush Kumar in leading roles. The witty and suspenseful series has received accolades from both viewers and critics alike, and for this feat she thanks her partners Ranjeet Chitrakaar and Amber Wasi for making the writing such thought-provoking and packed with uproarious humor and her actors for delivering it with heartfelt performances.

Main Monica marked a significant milestone for Paromita and her creative agency and production house, Creative Play which was founded in 2015.  Creative Play has seen remarkable growth since the positive response to "Main Monica." The show's success has paved the way for new avenues and collaborations. With the arrival of new director Prashant Kulkarni, the brand is poised to elevate to new heights.
Paromita Ganguly is not just about creating laughter; she believes dark humor offers relief in the face of stress, which people need today to keep going. "I want to show people that we can laugh through difficult situations in life. It’s how we react to a problem that creates opportunity for an interesting story waiting to be told” she states. Her commitment to delivering meaningful and emotional human stories with a comedic twist has become the hallmark of her work.

"I believe that entertaining viewers is my job, I’m paid to do so, but doing it responsibly to bring about positive change is my value-add, my contribution," says Paromita. She sees storytelling as a powerful medium to not only entertain but also to provoke discussion and challenge societal norms.

With numerous prestigious awards under her belt, including recognitions from the Cannes Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and Promax Film Festival, Paromita feels it’s her commitment to creating strong social impact through storytelling has set her apart, and she plans to continue this trajectory with upcoming projects.

Currently, Creative Play is in the process of developing several new subjects, writing films and series that promise to captivate audiences with their unique blend of dark humor and emotional depth.
Reflecting on her journey, Paromita emphasizes the responsibility that comes with the privilege of being a filmmaker. "Films and media are the most common and oldest medium to move mass mindset," she notes. "With this opportunity comes a responsibility, to tell stories that people need to hear."
