Madirakshi Mundle on Father’s Day: I’ve facial resemblance with my father, got my artistic genes from him, both of us love ghee and share interests in trading
Our world would have been nothing without our fathers and father figures. They are our caregivers and nurturers, who equally support our mothers to take care of their children. Father's Day on June 18 celebrates and recognises fatherhood and the contribution of fathers in our society. Actor Madirakshi Mundle, known for her projects such as Jag Janani Maa Vaishno Devi – Kahani Mata Rani Ki, Siya Ke Ram and Karn Sangini, talks about her father, the equation she shares with him and the advice he has given her that she follows till today.
“Well, first of all, I have a strong facial resemblance with my father, Dinesh Chandra Joshi. I have been told this multiple times by everyone who sees us together. I love my father and worry about him. We also have shared interests like trading. I share trade tips with him on stocks literally every day. I’ve also inherited a lot of my artistic genes from him and of course his love of ghee,” she says.
Madirakshi’s parents stay in Bhopal. “Growing up my only memories are of him fulfilling all my demands. Whether it's clothes or other stuff kids love having, I was given everything I wanted,” she smiles.
About the advice she got from him, she shares, “He wanted me to become a Doctor. But, of course, I had other life plans. I didn’t like studying so much. So studying medicine was quite out of the question. I mean have you seen how thick and heavy those textbooks are? So I did professional interior designing and am now a professional actor and restaurateur. However, all my life his advice to me has been to focus and stick to my own business in life and keep out of stuff that does not concern me.”
So what's your favourite film that highlights the father-daughter relationship and why? “That way, Piku is my favourite movie. The bond between daughter and father is very lovingly and beautifully depicted. The ending is heartbreaking. But I loved the way it was put together,” she ends.
