Kamal Haasan on 'Kalki 2898 AD' Director Nag Ashwin, 'Ordinary-Looking People Do Extraordinary Things'
Last night, Mumbai city witnessed the biggest stars coming together to talk about the magnificent film 'Kalki 2898 AD'. The film’s stellar cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, gathered to celebrate what promises to be the year's most groundbreaking cinematic release. The film, set to transport audiences into a dystopian world of Indian mythology, has been making waves for its innovative approach and star-studded lineup. Alongside the cast, producers C. Aswani Dutt, Priyanka Dutt Chalasani, and Swapna Dutt Chalasani were in attendance, joined by an enthusiastic crowd of fans and media personnel from across the country.
The star-studded event kicked off with the electrifying ‘Bhairava Anthem’ dominating the screens, followed by special host Rana Daggubati, acclaimed actor and close friend of director Nag Ashwin, who graced the stage to lend his support to the magnum opus.
The cast shared their first impressions and experiences upon being offered the film. When asked about working with Nag Ashwin, a young director, Kamal Haasan said, "I'm used to these kinds of ordinary-looking people who do extraordinary things. My boss, my mentor, was one such man. He looked like a government official. I thought he would, first thing, if he enters any house, you'll think it's an income tax raid. That's how he looked. But I've seen what he was capable of from the kind of films he did. I think 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye' was his 60th or 70th film. So, I was not surprised. I don't underestimate these ordinary-looking guys. They have a depth to them that doesn't show unless you talk to them. And I did have the opportunity of talking to him. Man, a few words. And that's about the succinct way of putting forward your idea. If it extends to movies, great ideas will translate better. It's when they don't know how to present it that great ideas become ordinary movies. But this guy knew how to present an idea, which, as Amit Ji said, the first thing you want to ask is, what have you been smoking or what have you been drinking? But that's how great ideas are formed. I mean, ordinary people will doubt it and then they'll start respecting it. I could see a bit of that in Nag Ashwin."
Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set to release theatrically on June 27, 2024. With a star-studded cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, the film promises to be an unparalleled cinematic experience.
